What is a KNOCK-OUT run?
The run is a team relay run where one team member at a time runs an obstacle lap and the goal is to do as many laps as possible within the team during the set time. If you are not able to complete an obstacle and your team is out of JOKERS (see below) your team is KNOCKED OUT of the run and can’t proceed in gathering laps.
Objective!
The objective of the run is teambuilding and inclusion. Please try to build teams that are mixed with experienced and unexperienced climbers for a more fun and equal race! The race is also open for youth members and we encourage you to include them in your teams. Non-members of KFUM Uppsala Survival IF are also welcome as team members. For them the run will cost 100kr per person paid by swish on the race day. No fees for members!
When is the race?
The 27th of September (Saturday). The run starts at 10.00 sharp. We gather at the survival course in Berthåga at 9.30 for a joined warm up.
After the race?
The race finishes at 13.00. If the weather allows we will have a potluck BBQ at the course. Members not participating in the race are welcome to join the BBQ and of course cheer on their friends during the run.
How do the teams work?
Teams should consist of 3 members. One team member should be named team captain, this person is responsible for signing up the team, keeping track of the JOKERS and the team score. One team member runs at a time. Switches between team members requires a high five.
What is a JOKER?
Each team has three JOKERS to be used at any time. A JOKER gives you the opportunity to ask another team member to do a specific obstacle element (section, transition, atlas ball) for you without any penalties or consequences. If your team runs out of JOKERS and a member is unable to complete an obstacle your team is KNOCKED OUT. This means that your team can’t proceed collecting laps from that point on.
How does my team sign up?
Build a team and send an e-mail to Ralf Janssen (you can send it to info@uppsalasurvival.se and we will transfer it) with the names of the three members and a one-word team name. Use the header “Knock-out” plus your team name in the e-mail. Latest sign up is 26th of September. There will be a maximum of 10 teams so sign up early! Modifications of the team members can be made until the start.
If you are locking for team members you can post in the facebook event, talk to people at training or send an e-mail to Ralf !
Hope to see you there!
